Spain has a National Information and Monitoring Water Resources System focused on flood and drought prevention and management, called Automatic Water Information Systems (SAIH). However these SAIH implemented in every inter-Watershed in Spain employ different kinds of technology, thus complicating access to information at a national level form the National Water Authority (DGA).

The project involves a technological assessment to evaluate the current status of all SAIH implemented in Spanish water sheds, with particular emphasis on the description of instrumentation, data acquisition, communication and information systems.

The main result is to suggest some recommendations and a Homogenization Proposal to integrate the different systems under a national unified perspective, so the operation is optimized.
